People born under the Dragon are passionate, brave and self-assured. At their best they are pioneering spirits; at their worst, they epitomize the old adage: Fools rush in where angels fear to tread. Dragons are generous with their resources, a tendency that at its most negative can reflect a foolhardy attitude towards money. But Dragons in general are blessed with good fortune. They are smart, enterprising and have a wicked sense of humor. They have a natural flair for fashion and are the people to consult if you want to catch up on the latest trends.
This Chinese New Year 2012 ushers in the Water Dragon. Water exerts a calming influence on the Dragon’s innate fire. Water Dragons are more open to other people’s opinions than other Dragons which gives them the ability to channel their personal charisma into real leadership qualities.

According to legend, the Chinese emperor Shennong first discovered tea about 5,000 years ago? The emperor liked his water boiled for sanitation purposes. One day a dried leaf from a wild tea plant fell into his pot of water. Despite the change in color, the water was served to the emperor anyway. He drank it, found it refreshing, and Tea was born!

In a recent study, women who inhaled the uplifting aroma of peppermint whenever cravings struck lost five pounds every month! "Peppermint stimulates the satiety center in the brain, helping people feel genuinely full on far less food," says lead researcher Alan Hirsch, MD.
DO THIS: Drink three cups of peppermint tea daily, before meals, or whenever cravings strike.
Tea taste of the day: Cinnamon Orange from MarketSpice. Brew and pour over ice. Naturally sweet, it doesn't need any sugar (but I still add it anyway - super sweet tooth!). Iced tea is SO refreshing on a hot summer day like today!
Sorry to say, we have now discontinued the Cape Herb product line of gourmet herbs & seasonings. Still hoping to find a new supplier. We'll put what's left up on EBAY.
Just added Rooibos Provence Loose leaf tea, a delicous blend of South African red tea with rosehips, dried black currants rose leaves, lavender, raisn, dried red currants, rose petals and dried blueberries. Tastes like a summer day in the south of France. Lovely! Here's the best part: It works in your Keurig machine for instant gratification! Some may say it's sacriligious to brew your tea this way, but I say if it tastes good, try it! Not all teas will brew this way. Red teas are already in very small pieces. I have yet to try grinding up a tea to see if it will brew, but I'm going to try it with one of my less expensive teas.
Here's a hot tea drink to warm up your cold winter nights:
Crimson Toddy
4 oz boiling water
1 teaspoon hibiscus based fruit tea leaves
2 oz bourbon
1 tablespoon agave nectar
1 orange slice
10 whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick
Stud orange slice with cloves. Steep tea in boing water for five minutes, then strain into an insulated cup (covering to keep hot). Run a brandy snifter under hot water until fairly warm. Place clove-studded orange slice into snifter, then pour in bourbon, then hot tea. Stir in the agave nectar with a cinnamon stick. Serve in a teacup.

Just learned that the International Flavors Seasoning Rubs by Cape Herb have been discontinued. Mama Africa is completely out of stock, and supplies are limited for the rest of the flavors. We are also losing our current supplier of the rest of the Cape Herb Seasonings, so the rest of those products are also limited quantities. We're looking for a new supplier but this should give you the motiviation to try some of our other fantastic seasonings from Beyond the Shaker and Great Lakes. Give the gift of Good Taste this year!
Just put a lot of items on sale for your holiday shopping!
Green Tea with Ginger
